Paper Shredder recommendations

Sorry if wrong place to ask but mum has completely jammed the shredder and after spending an hour to de-jam I think its completely given up on life so will need to be replaced. To be honest this was the third time that she has jammed it up, the first two I was able to clear the blades and get it working this time failure. I told her numerous times not to put sticky labels thru it and only upto 4 sheets at a time but does she listen or tell me at the first instant that its jammed.

Shredder is/was ProAction 8 Sheet 10 Litre Cross Cut Shredder http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9130153.htm

So I need a paper shredder that can handle what my mum puts in it. So it would be a heavy user. It looks like old bank statements and old medicial/legal documents that she is shredding so medium to high security for the cutting action before she puts it out for recycling.

Don't really have a budget in mind but don't want to spend a fortune incase it has to replaced too within a couple of years.

    Hi

I bought the 5 sheet one {same make} from Argos a few years ago when my old straight cut one gave up the ghost and can say that it gets quite heavy use {bank paperwork/lots of general post rubbish ect} and to date has not let me down so I do not think you will go far wrong with the one you have looked at :0)

At the risk of sounding ridiculous, get her a couple of gerbils.
We put all our paper (except labels) in with them and they get through a sheet in a few minutes.

I would also say good luck to anyone wanting to put anything back together.

Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.
  • Get a puppy. They do a good paper shredding job, quietly, even when you're not looking.
