Injured from slipping on airplane's ramp

All I can state is that for those who have made the stupid and unhelpful comments, nothing like this happens to you or a member family. It's worth remembering that the OP had a child in tow and this situation could have been much more serious - but at least some of you have had a good chuckle.
As one of those who's 'challenged' the OP I'll bite - the environment when leaving a plane is that 50-400 people are following each other for the first 50mtrs or so. Unless OP was on a private jet or was the first off the plane then I would expect a level of visibility of how others are coping with the surroundings and a sense of personal responsibility for managing baggage & child
There will always be occasions where there are genuine trips/slips/falls and these should be dealt with and compensated accordingly where fault is apportioned but when the balance of probabilities is that personal behaviour/action is responsible then the first port of call shouldn't be to log onto a website to find out how much compo can be claimed0 -
No dickydonkin you are wrong. The OP was exposed as a compensation seeker of the worst kind trying to blame others for simple failure to exercise common sense and basic caution. You then waded in with the over cautious Health & Safety rubbish that we are now unfortunately seeing appear again and again.
The majority of MSE users, being sensible normal people with a common sense approach to life, attempted to politely provide the view that I expect would be held by the majority of the public as well who are sick of this type of rubbish.0 -
The messenger is well and truly shot down.
Once again - I will repeat that I was explaining the situation in respect of the law. And again, we don't even know what type of ramp it was, the circumstances or the environment.
For all of you on this thread who have provided little input other than deride what I am attempting to portray from a legal perspective or basically offer no more that puerile sarcastic comments, or indeed slate the OP for having the audacity to fall and hurt herself, I don't make the laws of the land.
I attempt to interpret them into any given situation, but it is vital to ascertain all of the facts - not assume what happened and why - like so many on this thread.
Many on here are blatantly obviously ignorant of how H&S legislation works - and I don't agree with a lot of the legislation either, but thank the EU and the law makers for the laws what we have.
I totally agree with the majority on here who believe our compensation culture has now gone too far and many will try to pull a fast one - but with reference to this situation, it is totally unfair to assume that the OP's fall was totally her fault.
Indeed it may be the case - she could have had a drink or two on the plane, she may have been wearing unsuitable footwear - however, it's possible she may have an underlying medical condition, the ramp might have had a defect.
There are many possible reasons for falling down the ramp - the reality is that none of us know for certain and it is blatantly unfair to apportion all of the blame onto the OP without having access to the area or seeing the actual equipment.
I don't like the compensation culture that has developed here in the UK, but if anyone has suffered any losses (financial or otherwise), then that person should be compensated.
:rotfl::rotfl: You have read all of this thread haven't you? I would suggest you count the number of sensible comments as opposed to those that are basically ignorant. The majority of MSE users, being sensible normal people with a common sense approach to life, attempted to politely provide the view that I expect would be held by the majority of the public as well who are sick of this type of rubbish.
You will find the latter significantly outweighs the former.0 -
Oh noooo.... It's raining. Should i go out, or should i wait for someone to clarify whether it's safe first ? I have to go to the supermarket and it might be slippy, what should i do ?

Once again - I will repeat ..........
did nobody ever explain to you that saying the same thing over and over and over again doesn't make it 'right'?
The HSE laws are not there to justify or protect the victim's stupidity...The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -

Before any one criticises,
Pause,
Stop.
Think,
and consider what jesus would have done (as he stepped off the plane)0 -
I don't know. I had a quick flick through but couldn't find anything to quote.Murphy_The_Cat wrote: »and consider what jesus would have done (as he stepped off the plane)
