  • I have to agree that your bulb is only flickering.

You need to address why you're doing this. It's very self destructive. For me it was lack of self worth, boredom and depression. I think perhaps you are similar? Your worth isn't determined by the label on the dress you're wearing or which bar you drink at. Enthusiasticsaver has given you some very wise advice; you need to commit to the DFW journey to give you the freedom to change careers.

I still read this section regularly because it reminds me how far I've come and how I need to keep up my DFW ways.

Problem we have today is this, banks and financial institutions like to keep us all in debt, fact.

Why is this you ask ?, well, if people were not in debt, banks could not exist in there current form, they would make less profit, and the shareholders would not be happy, oh dear i hear you say.

How to get out of this spiral then ?

There is a moment in time, when all the stars in the universe align, the birds stop singing, the sun moves behind the moon, and you realize you are spending much, much more, than you actually have coming in, and you think to yourself, "this situation cannot continue".

This, this perfect moment in time, is called your Light bulb moment.

For here on in, you know things need to change, you need to reign in your spending, your borrowing, things you spend money on, that you simply dont need, and can easily live without, numerous options are available, it depends on your own personal circumstances, cut up that credit card, no more loans, plan, and stick to a budget.

Theirs lots of good advise available on here, from people who have been through very similar circumstances, this does need nipping in the bud, because if it continues, and you don't stop unnecessary spending/borrowing, then its a fast downhill slope to Bankruptcy make no mistake.

I led a very similar lifestyle almost entirely funded by credit for many years until my LBM, you need to take positive action now, to avoid getting into much deeper trouble.

Congratulations sourcrates, this post got you Post of the Month for February 2015 :)

OK, so you were the only nomination... but it's a fabulously inspirational post. Thank you for all the help you give to MSE forumites, both the ones that thank and reply and the ones who simply read without posting. I'm sure if everyone who read this and felt inspired by it was a forum member they'd be clicking the thanks button :)

    hi,

i'm going to try and be constructive. If you really want to change try this rough budget as a basis

    1. CUT UP YOUR CREDIT CARD. NO SPENDING ON CREDIT IS ALLOWED AT ALL

    2.

    rent 843
    mobile 20
    groceries !50
    clothing 30
    ent 150
    gym 13
other 75 (you do not budget for haircuts presents etc. That is what this is for)
    Loan 456.

Nope you do not get to go on any holidays and you don't get to play businesses either. The reason being, you have a debt mountain to tackle.

This leaves you £933. ALL of which you pay towards your existing debt. You will have it cleared within a year!!! That will then leave you with your loan. with the cards cleared you could probably get a better deal (and use the 2k 0% from your employer. You could tackle this pretty quickly, lower repayments plus all of your £933.

Thats it, its straightforward and simple. You don't have to move or take a massive hit in your lifestyle other than the ridiculous spending on clothes and holidays and business. You do though have to spend less. If you don't you will end up on a dmp or bankrupt. Check out a few SOA's from those guys if you want a shock and an insight into how you will be FORCED to live if you don't get a grip. The ball is in your court. Good luck.

  • The problem with all the replies is that the OP hasn't been back since her original post, so it looks as though she doesn't want our advice.

If she doesn't come back then what is the point of giving her advice?

well they're just not ready for the medicine yet. I wasn't for a long time. What i really wanted was to be shown some magic secret to make my accounts healthier, and reduce my debt.

I didn't actually want to spend less!! Or have to plan and budget, all that boring stuff!!

I'm here now because finally i really want to sort out my finances and do whatever it takes to get me there.

All we can do is to be kind and helpful to those that ask. Even if they don't act this time, hopefully they will come back when they're ready. Congrats on the Post Sourcrates.
