It just seems uncanny that with the growth of contactless cards,we also have a supply of such devices and lots of buyers..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

It's a good development as I often forget to draw cash and generally only ever draw £5 or £10 at most for things like parking meters that don't take cards. It's ideal for small transactions like a pint of milk or a paper and less fiddly than counting out cash and waiting for change (and checking it)

I just wish Tesco would get its act together and start accepting them in this area.

It's probably because people are using these to read proximity ID tags for their door entry systems than skimming contactless cards. ;) And anyway, that reader operates on 125KHz which is not a frequency that contactless bank cards operate on.

You can get a mobile PDQ terminal that does contactless payments
    http://www.barclaycard.co.uk/business/accepting-payments/card-terminals/mobile-terminal
I'm sure it would not be difficult for an unscrupulous owner of one of these machines to swipe numerous peoples bags and pockets with the reader secreted inside a coat or bag.
What happens if a flaw is introduced removing the requirement for pin when the first contactless payment is made on a new card (or make a chip & pin transaction to enable such as use an ATM)?
Its possible royal mail and Whistl staff posting letters containing cards could skim money off or the post bags left on the street could be scanned with a PDQ?

You have another thing to add into the mix along with a dodgy retailer (especially abroad) - untrustworthy banks.
And who's going to bother about £20 going missing?
I concede the merchant (PDQ owner) may have difficulty liberating the money from the bank into his greasy hands but the fact is, your bank will come up with all sorts of excuses not to refund you.

Not all contactless cards require that a payment with PIN is made before the first contactless payment.

So which ones don't? All the ones I have required that I made a chip and pin transaction before comtactless payment was activated.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.

I have received a contactless card that I have neither asked for or want..... it is NOT secure .. can't get any help or sense out of anyone at Nationwide so will be searching for a bank that does not do them or are willing to supply a non contacless card.

I just saw bits today's Richard III's funeral procession on the News, headed by a police motor cyclist. I wonder whether he'd have loved to have a bike on which to speed off when his would-be assassins descended on him. Or whether he'd just have insisted on his right to a horse if he had had the choice.
