Have any of you used, or purchased alternative multi tools to the Dremel multi tool, which has a motor and many small round sanders?
(as the Dremel has had some customers unsatisfied customers), so asking about alternatives you have tried.
If you have had alternatives,
What make was it? where you buy it from?
how much did you pay for it, and was it good?

I recently went for Machine Marts (Clarke) own branded one after reading bad reviews on the Dremel. I would not recommend it as it doesn't grip the bits very well and I'm forever having to tighten them up. I have found if you wrap a small piece of paper around the bit before putting it in, it grips much better though. I tried phoning their customer services about the problem but not any help.0

Hi
I have one o the first Dremels that came out but after many years of use it started to play up so I looked around and in the end bought a Parkside one from our local Lidls. IMO both the tool and the bits for it worked out just as good as the Bremel and far cheaper, also the bits from my Dremel can fit the Parkside one0 -
I've got a Proxxon one which seems pretty good to me - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Proxxon-Micromot-Drill-Grinder-Supply/dp/B002GTN438Adventure before Dementia!0

I've got a Woolworth's one. I don't suppose that's a lot of use to know, these days!
That said, it's a cheap imported one, and I have seen them made in different colours with all sorts of brand names stuck on.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
It will depend on how powerful you want it. My Rolson multi tool has trouble with steel (NOT an ideal thing to do lol), but it's perfect for plastics (OH's warhammer collection) and gold and silver (we're jewellers). It can be very slow with harder materials, it's definitely a hobby level of tool I think.
Not sure about price, at most I think we paid £15 for each? We both bought one before we knew each other.0 -
The Fein Multimaster is widely recognised as the premiere multitool.{Signature removed by Forum Team - if you are not sure why we have removed your signature please contact the Forum Team}0

Bit of a playoff between convenience and power - I had an 18v one which was easy to hold but a little slow at times, swapped it for a 130W mains model which is clunkier but rips through most jobs.0
