Check out the LG direct drive washing machine. I've had mine for over 10 years without a single fault and still going strong. Not sure of drum sizes/weight that they produce now, but worth a look.

Hotpoint...why why why? With 3 kids you are probably washing every day, so you need something that will last you more then the 3 years or so you'll get out of a Hotpoint if used 300+ times a year.
If the old one has something simple gone (like the motor brushes), then it could be fixed for £50.
If not I'd suggest the Bosch WAQ28461GB at around £400, though it has less drum capacity. A recent Which? test rates the Hotpoint well down the list, and with only 2 out of 5 for the rinse. The Zanussi ZWF91283W is the highest rated Best Buy within your budget, at £330. That has a 9kg drum.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Another vote for an LG. Quietest I've had, 10 year guarantee on the motor.
  • My current machine is A hotpoint aqualtis and cost a little over £600 at time of purchase
Its around 6 years old and think Ive had to have it looked at once.
I need a reliable energy cost effective machine that can stand up to being used daily.
Will take a look at Bosch and LG models and see what I find.
Once again thank you all for your help, tips and Advice

see here Anotheruser ;) and another poster suggested an LG too.
  • While I've never seen or used an LG washing machine before, I have heard they are nice to use and pretty quiet. So it looks like you may have made a wise choice based upon your needs and affordability.

I'd be interested to read what you think about it when you get it, if you don't mind.
