No Gas Account From Npower

Npower still have not set up my gas account after 19 months. It is stopping me change tariffs. My tariff runs out in 6 days and they put me on a standard one. I have well over £1,000 credit on my electric account and they wont give it me back. Im at my wits end as what to do. Many calls and complaints have been made with no luck. Its now going to cost me a heck of a lot more to be on a standard tariff. They have no record of my gas meter when they put a new one in. Ombudsman no good as they say my complaint is over 9 months old. Help me someone please.

Why not ask to go onto the one year fixed tariff, as there is no leaving penalty and it's much cheaper than standard?

Unfortunately, you'll probably have to raise a new complaint and refer that to the ombudsman when nPower don't give a satisfactory response.
Don't know if the back-billing agreement (which nPower have signed up to) would apply in your case. If it did, they would not bill you back more than 12 months. Worth telling them you believe that applies and you expect them to observe it.
In the meantime, if they won't let you switch tariff and therefore automatically put you on their standard tariff, all you can do is include that in the complaint. Presumably they would block any attempt by you to switch away to another supplier too, but have you tried?

The OP's post in another thread:
I have a massive credit of over £1,000 on my account. They wont give it me back because they have not billed me for gas for 18 months. its been an on going problem that never gets solved. They have no record of the meter they installed 18 months ago. My tariff comes to and end in feb, and twice I have tried to go to a new tariff, but they cant set the gas direct debit up, which voids the tariff. they are now telling me they putting me on a standard tariff which is going to cost me loads more. I don't want this and I want my credit back. what do I do?

So the OP is only in credit by so much because nPower haven't billed.
They can't move to another tariff either.
