Mothers Day Gifts

Mothers Day is fast approaching and whilst I believe one should cherish the special ladies in their lives for 365 days of a year not just 1, I do like to try make it a little occasion.
I just have my Mum and Grandma to plan for this year. For my Grandma I was thinking maybe a different take on a tea cup candle. She doesnt light candles but loves plants so thinking of finding a small flower/plant and planting it in the cup rather than a pot? No idea what plant however I pretty clueless and not green fingered at all! :rotfl:
Not sure about Mum however ..
Do any of you guys have anything planned?

I would love to get mum something really special, but I know it would just be wasted money. Her new husband spoils her silly, holidays abroad 5-6 times a year, jewellery dripping from her every limb ... we cant and wont try to compete with that, so instead I will take her for a late lunch, and just spend some quality time with her. I make it my mission these days to try and remind her that money isnt everything!
As for me, my teenage daughter has promised me a day off - she will walk the dogs, cook dinner, and play with her little sister, so I can "relax" ... I cant wait! It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
I'm out of ideas after birthday and christmas on the gift front. I usually do a day out somewhere then cook a meal, but that's a bit weather dependent. I might look and see what the national trust have to offer, she likes a good mooch round a stately home. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Mine's in a home, in a small room, with dementia. I'll send some sweets and a card. Nothing else she needs, can use, will understand.0

I'm going to be away visiting a friend over Mothers day weekend, so I'm taking my mum for a boozy afternoon tea the week before. I got a good itison deal at a very nice local hotel. I'm also going to buy her something little when I'm away, maybe something from Covent Gardens.
I said I'd sort something for my partners mum too. She's got quite a sweet tooth so I'm doing a Thorntons hamper. I got a cute basket from Dunelm Mill and I've managed to get good deals on the actual Thorntons chocolates from Home Bargains, Co-op and Asda. It should come in at about £12 all together.
I think they'll both be happy with that.0 -
I'll be heading to a National Trust property with my Mum, and hopefully having a nice roast dinner somewhere - I may even cook!0

I've spotted some quite soft flannels in Wilkos today. I'm thinking about showing Rainbows and Brownies how to make flannel cupcakes. We'll add cupcake toppers and finish them off with cellophane and curling ribbon (which I already have in).
I'm not sure what I'm doing for my own mum yet though.0 -
We've bought Orchids as Mother's Day presents in the past and that's been very successful
You can get them at various prices, they look quite spectacular and are very long lasting as the flowers last for ages and when they do drop off, you just ignore the orchid for ages and then new ones grow!0 -
If you wanted to get some personalised candles for mothers day you can take a look here - designsbynn.com (Will have to google it)0

Sorry to hear that xHere's a nice alternative gift, you can sponsor a Safe Birth for a mother in Africa with the charity Maternity Worldwide. They will send you a personalised certificate to give as a gift for Mother's Day. Only £15!
That's such a unique idea & a really good cause, may have to look into this one! We've bought Orchids as Mother's Day presents in the past and that's been very successful
Yeah, I bought my Grandma about 2 years ago. I think its stopped flowering now however she got some lovely flowers on it. Doubt I can plant one of those in a tea pot though :rotfl:
After much thought think I am just going to take mum for a meal. Time is the best gift!0 -
