abode manchester- complaint

Hello All
I was wondering if any of you had this issue before - I booked a meal and accommodation at abode manchester, sadly I had to cancel and I called the hotel on the 2nd February (as per my phone records) to cancel my booking. I was informed by the last on reception that the booking had been cancelled, on the 16th Feb I had £371 removed from my account for the booking. I phoned the manager who basically said he would not offer me a refund as they have no proof that I phoned. The conclusion was that as my records were not accessed on that date and because I did not receive a cancellation number as per the policy (which I was not aware of). He said he would offer me a standard room and breakfast as a gesture of good will (with the possibility of an upgrade should one be available on the night we request) and that offer would be open for 12 months- this is £128 a loss to me of £243.
Is there anything else I can do and does this seem fair
Many thanks for reading and any help would be much appreciated

Did you withhold your incoming phone number? Unless they were also unable to bill their guests for phone calls they made that night then they would definitely have a record of your phone number calling. What you said wouldn't be recorded, however, so that may be contested.0 -

I'm not sure how being able to charge guests who stayed that night for outgoing calls has any relevance on the OP whose call would be incoming.
For example, if you have an itemised phone bill and you made a chargeable call today, that would show on your bill (outgoing). However, any numbers that called you today wouldn't show (incoming).0 -

It's different for companies with a telephone system to a home phone line. The Hotel's PBX outputs Call Detail Recordings (CDRs) that are for both incoming and outgoing calls. Hotels then use this CDR to generate the bills for guests rooms. If they've got the outgoing call information (ie. there wasn't a fault preventing CDRs being generated) they will also have the incoming call information, normally including CLI.0 -
