Checked my account this morning and it is showing a cheque debited yesterday - a Saturday. I don't think I have ever seen anything debited on a non banking day before, is this something new ?

Was it done on Friday and its only just showing up?0

I don't know when it was actually paid in at the other bank but the debit date from my account is Saturday 21st.0

Could it be that payee of cheque also banked with Santander and they paid it in on the Saturday?
On the proper statement, my guess is that it will show up as Monday which would be a business day.0 -
Sounds unusual to me.. Would have expected it to show the available credit to be reduced, for example, but the transaction date to be 23rd0

Me too Jones.. Yes, perhaps it is a House Check?0

Other party does not bank with Santander and it was a personal cheque.0

On a similar note…..
Interest / DD cashback / £2 fee were due on 21st (Saturday). Normally these would be deferred to the next working day. Logged on this morning (Monday) and these payments in and out dated 21st.0 -
My interest and cashback always seem to be paid on the due day including w/e and bh. The fee sometimes comes a couple of days late.0
-
And this Saturday's weirdness is DD cashback applied but no interest or account charge.

If you are a Select customer, the date of the charge can be different to the date you get interest and cashback.0
