Would I be wasting my time viewing this property?

Currently a FTB looking for a 2 bedroom flat in Scotland. I made an offer on a flat I really liked last week, it was on at offers over £175 (home report value £185k) but had been on the market since October with little interest I believed. However as I made an offer it was rejected and went to closing date when three other people offered and my new offer of £176 was beat by someone elses offer.

This brings me to now, there is another flat in the same development which is pretty much the exact same with a slightly different layout. It has also been on the market for a long time (Sept 2014). It is priced at offer in the region of £185k with the same home report value of £185k.

I guess my question is am I wasting everyone's time in even viewing this knowing I can only go to about £178k?

You won't know until you try! They can only say no?

Do you know what the first flat went for in the end?

Unfortunately not, this is the second one I've lost out on :( and I can only find out when the prices go up on Zoopla etc which seem to have a 2-3 month lag.

It might be worth asking your solicitor - I know they can get access to prices sooner, but not sure by how much. I don't think you have anything to lose by submitting an offer. It may just have been bad luck the first time round... for all you know the winning bid might have been £177.5k!

If you miss out this time, then I'd say that's the point to start considering other options.

Go and have a look, and if you like it, offer what you can. You don't know what anyone else is doing, but surely the worst that an happen is they say no, and you're no worse off ?
