    Hi Fighter

If you are still checking this thread, I do hope you've got in touch with one of the free charities or are going to do so very soon. The online tools can give an indication of suitable options but it's important to follow this up by speaking to someone, especially if you want to pursue a DRO. Certainly on the basis of what you have said about your situation so far, you are likely to be eligible for it.

Thanks dennis. I did try calling national debt line this morning but unfortunately I couldn't get to speak to anyone. I managed to get through to stepchange and I am just back on the phone with them now doing the 2nd part???
Eager to get it all sorted
  • Sounds good - at least you are pushing along with it. Don't forget to mention your worries about certain things you think might be a problem. Otherwise, good luck and I hope it goes ok. :)

That was a long conversation. Ha ha
Cant do a dro for 2 months until my housing benefit overpayment is finished however I'm fine with this because it means I can get my credit report, check I haven't forgotten anything and save for the fee.

I think its the only way.

And yes they did put my mind at rest i can sit down and eat now x
  • Good to hear!

Yeah it will give you time to gather the things you need like the credit report, and make sure everything with that is ok.

(I got mine, and noticed a past creditor hadn't cleared my account up as it was still showing I owed them money, and because i *didnt* owe them money, and because in a dro everything has to go on it, I had to get it fixed before getting a new report. grr! lol is part of the reason it took me ages to get mine sorted, not helped by dwp also!).

But anyhow, regardless of how long it takes to get it all rolling, you'll be happier once it is done. :)

Can HBen overpayments be included in a DRO? Can rent for that matter?
  • Yes any debt can be included in a DRO, please correct me if I am wrong.
The thing about chaos is, it's fair.
  • Hi.

It can but they said as I am a housing association tenant if they include rent arrears in a dro then it could potentially lead to the landlord seeking a notice of possession
