Applied for new 0% card, was Refused

I applied for a new 0% rate card, after taking the pre check test here, which said there was a 9/10 chance of me getting it, but I was truned down for the card, so I am a little annoyed that this site had said I would be eligible.

no , 9 out of 10 people in your situation would be accepted , not 10 out of 100

Hi
Although I am retired with a pension income, I also do some self employed work and some part time occassional work. I put that I was self employed, do you think that this is why I was refused?0 -

No-one knows why you were rejected except the bank. The MSE test says 90% chance, still means 10% chance of rejection - check your reports with the credit agencies - register on noddle for free and get the £2 report from Experian and Equifax.
Also worth checking you are on the electoral roll and confirming if you have any other debts or credit - it's possible you simply have too much credit available to you (e.g. multiple credit cards, active overdraft etc) and the bank doesn't want to take a risk.
Could just be you don't fit their profile.
Try ONE other card application to another 0% AFTER you have checked at least Noddle and confirmed you are on the electoral register. After that leave it 6 months before trying again.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Usually when you apply for credit, they want you to have been self employed for at least 1-2 years and some will even ask you to prove your income. You'd be better off putting retired, as they know you should at least have a pension income.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
