Sewing chiffon

Hi

Are there any dress makers out there that can advise me please?

I've bought some gorgeous chiffon fabric that I am going to make into a dress.

I am a bit of a novice with the sewing machine, I've been sewing since April last year and an comfortable making bags & pouches and I made my Christmas dress.

I think I will be able to use the same pattern, the chiffon is a pale peach colour with a pretty pattern to it. I will need something to wear under it - not very MSE I bought it because I liked the look and the feel of it!

Here's the question: should I make it in one with some cotton type fabric or should I make it with just the chiffon and make myself a petticoat to wear with it?

Or not make the dress make a kimono style top to wear with other items?

Any offers of advice, I'd be most grateful :)

Just realised I've posted this to the OS board and not the Crafting board.

    I've asked to be moved.

    Sorry guys x

Hi, I'm fairly new to sewing too, wel I've a good few years of intermittent experience. I think the Kimono style top sounds like a great idea for the chiffon. It is tricky to handle, the machine sometimes tries to gobble it, holes develop etc. a whole dress could be asking for Trouble!,and I just think a chiffon kimono over a tore bought cmi would look lovely.
