Hey, Thanks for checking this out. After some help.Three of us living in Edinburgh are visiting a friend in Australia on 7 September 2015. We are after the cheapest flights, so maybe leaving from another airport will benefit us. Whilst in Australia, we want to visit NZ and Thailand.Having a quick search online it would appear to be cheaper flying back to the UK from Bangkok. So each of us are tring to find the cheapest way to do this holiday.
I am cheating as im using your help
Holiday time is 3 weeks, dates are flexible about a week either way...Not necesarily leaving Edinburgh, im sure we can get to Amsterdam cheap or Heathrow cheap enough etc.
Any other suggestions are welcome
thank-you so much.

Use https://www.kayak.co.uk with their flexible fare finder to get a good feel for prices.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I use Momondo for fares then book on the airlines website.
You looking at about £ 625 as a benchmark to beat, from Edinburgh to Melbourne with Etihad, out on 5 September and returning 3 weeks later.0 -
Cheapest flights for me (I'm in NZ) at the moment are from Dublin, so a Ryanair flight over there before flight to London cheapens the price quite considerably. I do have time to play with so can pick an awkward route over price. Maybe a series of one way flights can work for your itinerary.
Kayak and Skyscanner work best for me.
Also (weirdly) some agents are cheaper than the airline direct, no I haven't worked out how or why, but its true. When the price appears on skyscanner, google the agent for reviews before you buy. A few had cheaper prices but awful 'we put the price up after you've booked' reviews and so went with a more expensive one - ebookers.
Remember an agent is a third party that will complicate resolving any problems/changes - you take your chances!
Also consider smaller flights to get you around Australia and to NZ, Jetstar and Air NZ are the only operators in NZ and fly to Australia. Virgin Australia will do cheap flight to NZ also. Consider local airports rather than just Auckland. I think Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown do international flights from Australia.
Air Asia may get you from Australia to SE asia cheaply (Kuala Lumpur) and you could train to Thailand - if you want to be in the islands down South this may work out well.
Also 3 weeks is not a lot of time to cover all this. Thailand, Australia and NZ. Maybe its time to focus on the essentials and agree a time period for each section.0 -
Emirates from Newcastle might be worth a look for rtn to Melbourne.
My best mate just booked for early may and they came out best price wise.
Not sure about adding in Thailand etc.0 -
