The start of a saga?

Just seen a property I'm going to go for renting wise: it's a 2 bed, but you rent the room, so house share £110pw inc bills except council tax.

Available immediately. But property needed back by August 2015, so literally 6 months.

Now this in theory suits me fine ( except the £162 fee! ).

But the ignorance that the tenancy will just end in August is interesting. So will need to be on my guard regarding other things I suspect.

Sounds like a student share to me.

Maybe the landlord thinks that there are people out there that will keep to their word - who knows?

I don't have any statistics, but I'd venture that the percentage of tenancies that end with a court possession order and a bailiff eviction is rather small.

No defo not a student share, priced out of the local market by a good 20-25%.

Perhaps benjus, fingers crossed. I have no problem with 6 month rental. I prefer them, oddly.

I just get that odd feeling where, if a LL isn't aware of eviction process etc ( they might be) then what else are they not aware of

I suspect they might not be able to name every astronaut who went into space on the Apollo missions.

The LL could equally well have made an informed decision between the options of leaving the room empty and having no income from it, vs. accepting the risk of getting a dodgy tenant who won't leave after 6 months.

That's the thing, the flat is empty, rented out by the room. I'm probably over thinking it. August works well for me. So I'm not latching on to that bit.
