Conveyancing Start time

Hi guys,

TLDR: How long should I expect to wait for our solicitor to begin work once you've paid them?

We sent our conveyancing paperwork back on the 17th (3 days ago) and haven't heard anything from our solicitor yet. I don't want to start chasing until I know there's anything actually worth chasing. Is there a bit of a spin up time before searches begin etc?

The estate agent has sent the confirmation of the purchase, so I think everything's good to go. We'd waited for the survey before starting conveyancing (in case the survey stopped us from carrying on).

We're using Beaumont Legal and I expected a bit of a "We've got your paperwork and here's the online login details" email once they'd got started.

Worth sending an email today, or waiting for the post to land on Monday/Tuesday before finding out? I don't want to annoy them unnecessarily and the more time they spend sending me email, the less time they can do actual work.

Anyone got experience of Beaumont?

Thanks

No experience of that particular firm, but I'd not worry about annoying them, or taking up their time. If you haven't had anything from them by Monday, then ring or email (if you ring you don't have to wait until they get around to reading your email) and just ask them to confirm if they got your paperwork etc and is there anything else you need to be doing.

And as many of us have said many times, make sure that the chain is complete above you before you pay out any more money. You have already paid for your survey, please don't pay out for searches or anything else until you are sure.
