Has your condition worsened? (DLA)

On Monday, in many areas, a report of a worsened condition will lead to an automatic request to change over to PIP - not a change of circumstances for DLA.

Even if you are not concerned that under PIP, your new award may be less, the migration to PIP means that any fresh award takes effect around 4 weeks after the decision on your PIP claim.
It is not backdated.
As claims are taking at best several months to process, you could easily lose substantially by not reporting a change now.

Changes reported before the below date will be treated as a change of circumstances for DLA, and backdated to the date you phoned.

The date in question is the 23rd Feb - Monday, so it's got to be done today.

I unfortunately got to this late - I'd meant to post it in order to let people get a couple of days to call, but thought it was the 26th, not the 23rd.
The only way to - in the above areas - apply for a change of circumstnaces now is to hand-deliver a letter before start of buisness monday morning.

And I don't think there is even a public letterbox, so this may be problematic.

Just had letter this week with the usual yearly letter of increase, also includes about pip, they state that people on indefinite awards currently are not being called to apply yet, maybe end of 2015 or later.

I have recently been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis (to add to my MS), in dominant left hand, both knees and hip so mobility has gone futher down, on high rate so wouldn't make a difference for me dla wise, care needs have gone up, but not sure if i would warrant anymore care than middle rate, so i thought it would be best for me to sit tight with dla until i am contacted to apply for pip, 2 of my ms buddies have applied for pip, one who seems ok when i have seen her walks unaided, but not seen her for a few months and she has had a relapse got full pip, whereas another with blatant mobility issues in a wheelchair got nothing.

I don't know their personal, private lives so couldn't comment, just ones mobility is worse than the other, and the worse one failed completely

In some ways, PIP mobility is more favourable than DLA.
It is not always properly applied.
Under DLA - it had come to be '30 yards' - though this figure is not actually laid down in legislation.
If a wheelchair is not possible due to condition, and you can't stand and move 20 yards as often as reasonably required, at no less than half the pace of a non-disabled person, safely, and without worsening your condition, you are entitled to PIP.

The walking rate for DLA can be enormously lower than this that it can often make the 20/30 yards unimportant.

You are too late in Perth.
I don't believe there is any way they can even choose to treat a received change of circumstances in Perth now as DLA, not PIP.

I was truly surprised to - after phoning on the Friday morning - have the DLA renewal form on my mat Saturday morning.

Wish I had known as my care needs are a lot more I just didn't want to admit it but not to worry will just leave it all as it is, thats what I get for waiting x

Seems to me that people are hanging on like grim death to their existing DLA awards even though they are saying that their care/mobility problems have deteriorated. Is this because they know that they aren't as disabled as they have led the DWP to believe in the first place and are worried what will happen if they have a face to face assessment and are found out, or is it that they know that they are unlikely to get the same level of award under PIP as they have been getting under DLA and that they want to keep what they are currently getting rolling in for as long as possible?

Or maybe they know PIP was designed to move the goal posts and remove a percentage of disabled people from the benefit, even though they are still disabled. I don't blame people for hanging on. From what i've read its nigh on impossible to claim PIP for MH issues so when my DLA ends i am screwed, especially with the cuts to MH services
