Funding/Grants to buy computers, laptops

Options
Hi there

I support people around digital inclusion. Do you know of any grants or funding available to help adults on low income (including those on state benefits) to obtain computers or laptops?

I appreciate there may be a great deal of criteria - i.e. those with children, those on certain benefits etc - as many leads as possible would be great.

Thanks!

Jay

Not quite what I've looked at (I help with a local theatre based charity) but all the grants we have looked at have been distance related, it with the county, withing xx miles of the town/ facility etc.

Have you tried your local county/town hall they won't have funding but should have a list of local trusts who may consider your case.

Ask about your area's 'volunteer centre' or 'volunteer bureau' - they will have lots of information about grants available.

I asked to help a young man get some computer equipment and was given about four pages of grant bodies. You have to sift through and find ones that give to someone in your position - sometimes the criteria are area related or age restricted or industry related, etc.
  • Do you use UkOnline? They currently have an Argos Tablet offer but often have links to companies or schemes that offer refurbished computers either to individuals or projects. It may be worth you becoming a UKOnline centre if you are not already as there are various small funding opportunities available.

Also, I have just logged into Learn My Way as a learner and there is link to

    http://www.getonlineathome.org/

which offers refurbished computers to eligible people or charities for £99
