Hello
I am travelling from the south west for the England v Lithuania game on the evening of the 27th March - kick off at 7.45pm.
I would like to travel by car for some of the journey and then park up and the quickest train/tube station to Wembley. I don't know the area but I will be travelling up on the M4 - can anyone give me pointers on where best to get the train/tube for the last bit of the journey?
Many thanks
PS I have been to Wembley a few times before and always been staying in the nearby area so this time different since travelling in the late afternoon time from the South West.

Someone will not doubt point out that this is the Overseas Board, but maybe if you live that far away from London, it feels like another country. I usually advise leaving the M4 at the M25, go north to the next junction for the M40 eastbound, this becomes the A40 and follow the signs for Hillingdon. The car park is immediately on your left as you reach the traffic lights and the Met line goes direct to Wembley Park from Hillingdon Station.
However, I think you need to be aware that this, like all Tube car parks, and Hillingdon is a large car park, with a mid week match the car park may be full of commuters who park there Monday to Friday. It is unlikely that by 6 -6.30pm there will be many spaces open to park at any Tube car park, it is often 7pm or later before they begin to clear0 -
When I went to the Cup Final last year (Tigers!) I did something similar to Alan, but parked on the street near Ickenham tube station. I think it was in a street parallel to Long Lane, and then you just need to walk up Glebe Avenue to the station. From StreetView it looks like on street restrictions end at 5 on Monday - Friday.0

While I've never done this myself, my dad (who was quite a nervous driver) used to go to Harrow on the Hill. The big advantage is the vast majority who leave Wembley by tube will be going into London the opposite direction to you.0

Last time I went wembley (sell out) I used parkatmyhouse and paid about £6 to park in someones drive about 2 minutes walk from the stadium0

Harrow on the Hill is an option, I have the misfortune of living there for the last 26 years and you could park at St Georges Shopping Centre Car Park which is open until at least 0100 but the downside is getting to Harrow from the M4. You have to take the A312 at junction 3 on the M4, at peak times, assuming you are planning to arrive after 1600, that journey can take more than an hour, 10 days ago it took me nearly 2 hours. If you have a long journey to London, Hillingdon or Ickenham, the next station down the line would be a lot easier to find with a much shorter journey overall. Those who don't live here don't realise how show the traffic can be, I commute leaving at 0730 Monday to Friday and a 12 mile journey is normally the best part of an hour and a half......0

Many thanks for all your replies. Unfortunately I cannot leave the South West until 3.30 pm at the earliest and looking at all sorts of combinations of driving and train appears impossible to make the kick-off for the England match at 7.30 pm.
PS Sorry I saw travel information and looked quickly and didn't focus on the overseas bit!0
