Thank you that was very helpful.
They are certainly not living together...she spends from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon at his flat with the baby and her other son (and his daughter every other weekend ) and sometimes a few days extra in the school holidays but only if my son is around to take care of me.( he is also registered on the car for weekends and holidays, but he works full time )
As I said he has his own rent account and bills etc in his name there, nothing has ever been delivered here with his name on it!!!

Lol no, she has her own bank account, he is pretty useless with money to be honest, so apart from a savings account to save for a holiday, which is empty, they have no joint finances.
Thanks

My husband used to work away from home - he had a room in a shared house and we only saw him at the weekends but we were definitely in a relationship.
The time you spend together isn't an indication of whether you are a couple or not.0 -
I had one of these interviews a couple of years ago. I'm a single mother with 1 child, now aged 4. I moved counties and DWP wanted to check that I was in receipt of all the benefits I was entitled to. They also needed to check that I was who I said I was i.e. not a fraudulent claimant. You have nothing to hide...its just standard routine.SPC7 ~ Member#390 ~ £432.45 declared :j

Has she got her CSA confirmation and proof of him paying maintenenance. Could the father be trying to claim for the child?
You can be a couple and live apart - similarly you can live in the same house and be considered single.
I know a patient of mine triggered compliance by opening up a joint savings account in the name of the child with both parents being named as trustees. Easily sorted out but showed the reason for the compliance trigger. Can you think of a reason?
Sorry I missed the rest.
No CSA involvement ...she tried with first Childs father they were useless..he left the country in the end and still lives abroad.
Yes they started a joint savings account last year, for a holiday, but it is currently empty.
No he wouldn't claim for my grandson, he wants them to live together eventually and be entitled to Working Tax Credits etcbut it's not going to happen yet.
Thanks

Many couples spend weekends and holidays together but live apart and are still a couple. Is there a chance he has attempted to claim benefits for the baby - for example an extra room rate in housing?Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0 -

I think you may have solved why it's being picked up. Joint finances (savings) are a reason for them to investigate her.Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0 -

I understand your point, but she lives with me, with her 2 children, she is not even engaged to her partner!
If we had known she was pregnant we certainly would have re-evaluated her moving in with me, but she was here most of the time anyway and it seemed wrong for her to have a 2 bed house when so many are desperate for housing, which swung the decision.
Within a week of handing in her tenancy notice she found out she was pregnant.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing..and of course she would be better off having kept her home, as we now realise.
Thanks

Her partner lives 20 miles away and they see each other at weekends.
Are we being paranoid and it is just a review because of the new baby?Lol no, she has her own bank account, he is pretty useless with money to be honest, so apart from a savings account to save for a holiday, which is empty, they have no joint finances.
She calls him her partner. They spend every weekend together. They've just had a baby together. They have a joint bank account. They holiday together.
How are they not a couple?0
