No, I do not believe your gingham curtains were a false economy! The fact you will use them to ring the changes for summer is a great way to invest in decor - we all get a bit fed up with the look of our homes from time to time and end up redecorating, which leads to then changing carpets/soft furnishings! A simple thing like changing your window dressings seasonally can make a huge difference in helping us fall back in lurve with our surroundings - come winter, when you change back again to the older one's, you'll be thinking, "Oooh, snug and cosy!"I think you made a wise *investment* PLUS you got something you wanted ... all for a fiver!?? I think you did GREAT!
Bet the Tshirt looks cute too - bit cold tonight though - brrr, 'cept, you have a nice warm oven on
Just bumped into this thread while nosing around.

hi I have really enjoyed this post I have always had to make do and mend but I must have done a good job on my kitchen cupboards as my sons partener who he recently moved in with asked him where I had bought them from as she had looked everywhere to get some similar ones my son laughed as he explained that the wall cupboards were half a welsh dresser turned upside down and the drawers refitted and my husband made the base cupboards to match they were then painted period white colour from the crown period paints and I got some forged iron handles to finish them off0

I just found this thread and thought I'd mention a great money saving tip.Lots of people get inspiration from interior mags and books.Since I found Flickr www.flickr.com my magazine purchase has dropped dramatically. There are so many great photos on there. Some of the stylists for books use it to promote themselves too.So you get the photos for nothing! Selina Lake is showing some of her new book Bazaar Style http://www.flickr.com/photos/selinalake/2191650947/ which looks really good!0

My OH is putting our 'new' kitchen in ... (My Cousin was throwing it out because it was 'old fashioned!) I will soon have my old style country kitchen!
I have seen the wall paper I like at Focus - but it is too pricey, (and Hubby joked that if we stripped the walls back that kind of paper is probably under there!) so I am stealing the colours to use around the kitchen, and the 'sample piece' I erm..borrowed.. will be used to decoupage various boxes and tins to carry the pattern through...I just want some green gingam...will need to keep an eye out in the charity shops for old school dresses!.

There was an article about this book in last week's Mail on Sunday's You magazine. Not sure how much it usually costs but they are doing a special price of £17.10 - call You bookshop 0845 606 4204 or visit www.you-bookshop.co.uk0 -
