whats the difference...

...between a BT DTR T2000 and a Humax DTR T2000?

Argos are selling both with the BT version £20 cheaper...and would anyone recommend this particular model?

Most likely its like mobiles, the BT one will have BT branding on the box, remote and screens, and may have extra BT menu options, (say for the BT Vision service).

The BT one is probably restricted to use with a BT connection.

    Not according to other posts.

Same innards/ functionality just different branding. BT's main profits dont come from selling hardware so are probably willing to run thinner margins than Humax

Dont think its restricted, says in the blurb they both operate subscription free. Think it must be a branding thing alright...

No, not restricted in any way. I have one and it works fine.

Yes, I'd wait until the Freeview play boxes are released to see what happens to prices, if you can...

When are the Freeview Play boxes launching? Sounds like too little too late from the little I've heard.

I have the BT version on which I provide 2 comments. The tuners are not as good as previous (full size) Humax boxes that I have owned. Whether this is as a result of "miniturisation" of components or a faulty box I don't know.
Secondly the unit has to be on 24/7 (eco mode "off") to be able to access the functions quickly (otherwise takes 2 mins to startup - recordings NOT affected).
Whether the HUMAX DTR performs in an exactly the same way I don't know.
