Remove Default from Mobile Phone Company

I am extremely upset and frustrated by the orange service. I terminated my contact in October 2014 after being a loyal customer for many years. I paid my last bill with by Direct debit and confirmed it was all clear over the telephone to customer service.
In January 2015 I received a letter from Lowells debt collection agency telling me I owed £195.00 and would receive a County Court Judgment if I did not pay! This was a total shock to me as id already been told that id paid my last bill and everything was clear and settled. I telephoned Lowells immediately and they informed me that this was from a contract from 2007 -2010 (dolphin) which then I upgraded in 2010 to a business solo 35 which Orange tell me that my contract hadn’t been ‘upgraded’ correctly and in fact I had been given a new contract without me knowing. They said they would update my credit file and email me confirmation – none of which has been done!
I have made several calls to orange customer service team since who have said they would take the late payment marks off on my Credit file but so far this has not been done, neither have orange attempted to contact Lowells to confirm this is a mistake of Orange and NOT an oversight on my part.
I now have a default on my credit file which is preventing me from obtaining a Mortgage. As you can imagine I am extremely upset and frustrated by the whole situation, none of which is my fault.
So i really need orange to sort this out but am facing extreme difficulties trying to get through to someone on the phone that actually understands or is bothered, everyone either hangs up on me or passes me through to someone else - who is just as clueless... Ive even been given the email address to email but they all bounce back - its like banging my head against a brick wall!
Its not difficult, Orange needs to contact Lowells to tell them they made the mistake then Lowells needs to remove the default from my credit file so i can go and buy a house!!.
If anyone can help then please let me know and im at my witts end trying to speak with someone knowledgable.
Thanks in advance.

  • Lowells did not put the DEFAULT on your credit file. ORANGE did this.

It will show as LOWELL on your credit file though, as they bought the debt from ORANGE.

If you want it removed, ORANGE are the only people who can do this.

    Try the negative publicity angle-

Facebook / Twitter complaints to Orange
Write to newspapers who have financial troubles pages like the Observer - press being involved usually gets their attention

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
