    @ Spicy McHaggis.

Situation has been deterioriating for the last 3 months. Was rather hoping that an automatic update would fix it.

So it was fit for purpose when you bought it and for almost two years. It's now a fact you didn't factor it being future proof when you bought it.

Put up with it or sell and buy a new one, you've got no chance with the retailer.

We have 2 samsung smart tvs. 2013 version crashes all the time when using the Web browser or youtube. 2014 version has more ram I believe and different UI and everything works fine. With the new smart tv OS coming out for samsung I fully expect this tv to end up like the older one BUT it still has a great picture and looks lovely. You will find it hard to claim on the warranty as it only covers the tv use I believe.

At the end of the day the app doesn't come with the TV you downloaded it by choice & it no longer works. This has nothing to do with how the TV otherwise functions including the smart functions. I think your best bet is to find another browser that your TV does work with or sell it. This isn't a SOGA issue.

If you want to use your TV to view the Internet buy one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/MK808-Android-Rockchip-RK3066-Cortex-A9/dp/B009NNXY1W/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1424414434&sr=8-4&keywords=android+tv+dongle

It runs on Android and is much better than any options you can get on a smart TV. As it's Android you can download & use Opera on that instead.

Asking a silly question here, but have you tried manually searching for an update to Opera? A random update may not have been added automatically for some reason. No system is infallible!

No it isn't. That's why nobody else uses it.

The majority of web browsers on TVs aren't very good. And as the manufacturer moves onto newer TVs they don't bother updating the software on old ones. That's Life.
I'd say it was an additional feature and therefore cannot now be classed as 'unfit for purpose'

If you think that then maybe you should pay a visit to Specsavers (other Opticians are available).
  • Shame on all those who criticise the OP for being different with his Comic Sans Font.
