The HDD of my old acer stop working.
I changed a new one.
Anyone know where I could get a copy of Acer OEM Windows 7?
I have the licence key, but don't know where I can find acer oem Windows 7 to re-install.

Legally only Acer can provide a recovery CD and that's probably a chargeable service. Did you check the boxes (if you have them) for any media? Its possible you had a recovery partition and should have created your own disks but that's academic now.
You should be able to use any ISO from any OEM to do the install, so you may want to try asking friends. The Windows 7 DVD has all versions on it, but depending on how the OEM has set it it may be locked to a set version so you my have to get the same version as you have (ie home premium if you have that, or Pro if you have that) you used to be able to get a copy form Digital River but I think they closed ages ago and download come from Microsoft after you have bought a product.
If you use a OEM form another maker you may need to do a little detective work on installed drivers but Acers site should be able to supply them all for your machine.0 -
Surely Microsoft downloads are legal.
The system is an OEM, only the OEM is authorised to supply recovery media under Microsofts rules. Recovery media may be a copy of just the OS, or may install a set of disks that do more than just restore Windows but adds software (ie the bloatware you get) and drivers so its fully ready to go after the restore. If the system has hardware that Windows didn't know about when Win7 was released a simple OS restore may not put the drivers all back in place. This may be solved by a Windows update, but if its the wireless or network card, then its you have top get them an install them by a USB stick before you can do the Windows update anyway.
In terms of using the Microsoft links, the Microsoft links will be to retail software and the OP will have a OEM key. I Think (as its been a while since I've done one and I tend to use an OEM recover CD) that a MS download will work as they come with a 30 day trial licence, you just need to keep the PC Offline, and then before it activated go into the activate Windows bit and then change the key to what's printed on the CD stuck on the bottom. Sometimes you can't do that, and need to use the Phone Support line, and I think there's a change key option in there.0 -
I did have recovery DVD. But unfortunatelyit didn't burn properly that there was missing files and it stop in the middle of installation.
I am running Ubuntu temporary at the moment, but I will try putting windows back.0
