Tesco payg mob. Advice please

....and before the fruit phone jokes begin, let me explain that mobile, landline, computer and connectivity problems have been a constant here and are worsening. Choice of Blackberry 2 years ago was a best worst option, when 'finer' things did not work at all here, or but patchily. I've persisted and limped along, often driving elsewhere to try and get anything to work. It's usually fast and fine when away from here.

As of last night, the cursor does not respond to up/down/sideways on the touch pad, just dances or disappears. Phone currently unusable.

Calls, text, internet are my key wants. Email maybe. Bank apps.

Social networking, music/muzak, film etc. are definitely not wanted.

Is there any up to date 'my recipe' device?

I'd prefer a keypad. I now know that touchscreen frustration is a result of Notspot location. Others in this locale have same issues.

Any constructive help appreciated - budget>£100.

if the network in your area is poor in all those cases (somewhere near the coast miles from phone exchange by the sound of it) then the choice of handset isn't going to make that much difference in all honesty...are any of the other mobile networks better there than o2/tesco?

nothing wrong with modern Blackberrys. i had a Z10 until it went bad and it seems BB are pulling out of the UK as no major provider stocks their phones now.

Nothing wrong with the Lumia 530, you will just need time to get used to the different OS. That said, go for the 630 and forget the tablet, if you don't need it.
If you prefer Android go for the Moto G...

yes the Lumia 530- is a good started phone if you are used to win 8.1 on your PC/laptop.

The tablet i hated as it just did not feel right and was very slow and hard to use, so i returned the lot and cancelled the contract within 24 hrs.

If I remember correctly Tesco use O2. We travel frequently with our touring caravan, and fine either EE or Three are far more "friendly" in off beat locations that either O2, or Vodafone, we have major problems with Vodafone where we live, even though it is not in the "back of beyond".

Thankyou all - went out anyway to nearest town[8-10miles].
    Not working.
In fact, I realise it dates from Dec 13, so 2 crimbo's. not 2 yrs.
Will certainly therefore do as you suggest moneymate.
while there will look at others suggested.

Not whole villlage and area is affected, but a curved path line. Now affecting Vicarage. Flat farm/fen land all about.

Asked in at Bank last week about w/d of app. from this phone. It has been very useful for £tfrs w/o need for specific trips.

    Thankyou again.
