Jeez Ziggy I am shocked. I would completely expect a thank you from the kids and the grown ups! Manners cost nothing. One of my sons school friends mums gave me a stunning coat she didnt want anymore, she has a very high flying job with a fashion brand, and gets a lot of stuff for nothing. Anyway, I wrote her a note for that straight away. She was quite surprised to recieve it, & text me to say how lovely it was to recieve a hand written note. But I was raised that way!
My sons grandparents (OH side) will say 'no need for thank you notes' but I blooming write them anyway. I think gratitude is incredibly important to teach my son, and if you dont do it young....
Sorry to hear you are ill Tash. Cant be much fun knowing you have an imminent hospital stay. You need to get well before you go in!
LPP -Sorry to hear work is rubbish. Hope you can get matters resolved or at least addressed soon?
Cat -I am with you on saving the money. It will all be worth it at the end, and when you are 60 I doubt you'll be looking back thinking 'wish I had hired that van'
JoJo - Sorry to hear it is tough at the moment. I am feeling the same about the heating. It is breaking my budget every month at the moment, literally, and we only put the heating on, on December 1st. Two months of gas has cost us around £150. But its still so cold and miserable its a must have. And I dont have a baby, so I cant imagine how you feel. Trite, but hang in there spring IS coming.
Ratison - Did you see the whole Amazon Trade In thing? Thats what everyone on here has been mad for. I made £40 by selling my old books. Was super useful for buying new bike gear back through the site. You just scan your books to see what they'll accept at the moment. New lamps for old!
BB -Feel well soon ))
MillieMummy - Well done on your sprucing. Amazing how simple it is to give something back its sparkle." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Back from the Forrest, all 3 of us are freezing, wet and covered in mud (proberly sliding down the mud banks on our bum didn't help) yet we've all had a whale of a time! Heating on and getting in to dry warm clothes. Tea popped in the oven, we're all straving.
Worked out my money a little wrong, there's a extra £20 in the bank so can some bread and potatoes yey :-D
Going on a day out with the children and their dad Sunday, but I've told him ive not got a penny to my name and he say he'll pay for everything. Even though we're not together anymore he still likes to things as a family unit every now and then. We were going to go Blackpool but I don't think the weather will be up to it. Have to have a lot for other stuff to do.
Went on clothing site, picked a loads of clothes and put them in the basket and then deleted then :-) it curved my need to buy haha Read that on one of the other forums and it really did work.
I suppose I should tidy a little before whilst tea cooking, save the rush later before bf comes round!

Ooohhh I ordered some photos (just pay postage offer) the other night to finish baby book and got a4 collage print too. Just got a email saying they have been dispatched. Something low cost to give me something to do over the weekend. Plus a couple of photos to go in the empty frames, make the house more homely xxDebt Remaing £315 :jBreath out the past, Breath in the futureBig Dreams Start Small0

Ha! I do that too though in my case it's kitchenalia.
Ratison - if there are books that Amazon don't want could you put them outside your house with an honesty box? (Or a note asking for 50p through the letter box?)
My day started well as my cough seemed to be lifting and I met a friend for lunch doing my mystery shopper thing (who says there's no such thing as a free lunch!) but it was a long walk from the car park in the rain both ways and the damp hasn't done my chest any favours at all.
Dinner tonight is Mr S Chinese as they have their Chinese New Year deal on, I popped in to check out the YS stuff and had 3 packs of stuff in my hand before spotting the notice and it worked out way cheaper to buy the fresh stuff with the offer. (4 mains and 2 side so for £10) slightly extravagant for a Thursday night but their Chinese curries are huge and great quality and as there are only 3 of us we can stretch it to two nights.
Now I'm home I am plonked on the sofa and don't intend to move all night. Have a great evening everyoneMake £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Hello :hello:
Late posting today, not sure why
Thanks for starting the thread Bob:)
Not much accomplished today - must be the influence of the weather as it is absolutely foul here, such a change from yesterday
Sorry to hear about work, money and health woes. Hope things pick up soon for everyone.
Ratison, I have been using Amazon Trade in as well, and have made more than £60 altogether :j They won't accept all books unfortunately, and the individual prices are quite low (very low in some cases) but it soon mounts up, and there is no postage / fees to pay. I have also used a firm called Zapper before, who were also quite good. In fact I might have a look to see if they are still around, and if so, whether they might like some of the books that Amazon don't want at the momentA poster on another thread mentioned that there is a company local to her who buy any books by weight. Unfortunately we don't have anything like that round here though.
So, today's accomplishments, such as they are:
Checked banks, all as expected
Set up new computer, which was less frustrating than I had expected. An ideal job for a rainy day I suppose.
Meals from stores, though not a NSD unfortunately as OH bought a load of light bulbs.
Found a box set of DVDs belonging to OH, that he thought he had lost, while decluttering. He is very pleased about that and is looking forward to watching them again
Was gifted some venison meat by a friend
Done a Yougov survey
Sorted out a few items for sales unit, though events conspired against my taking them down there today
I don't seem to have accomplished much today, more effort needed tomorrow I think!0 -

My sentiments exactly. it was interesting listening to son talking
about yesterday and pleased to hear that he wouldn't have behaved like that at someone else's home - made me feel quite proud and sure that we are bringing him up right - manners maketh the man.
