Thursday 19th Feb. What small DFW things will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

    Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Howdy all
    I didnt spot us anywhere so have started the thread today.
    Today has got off to a good start. Rough night, but what a gorgeous day it is weather wise.
    I will be
    1) Collecting in dried washing that has been out on the line all night when its ready
    2) Walking son to a playdate
    3) Taking lunch to my OH who is working his behind off on a project for our business.
    4) Washed my hair and left it to dry naturally
    5) Checked both sets of banking
    6) Planned tonights meal from existing stocks, just need burger buns.
    7) Keeping an eye out for roadkill of all kinds, its such a nice day, I bet people will be putting things out to the street today.
    8) Considering moving money back from my EF to put my current account back to where I want it to be.
    9) No washing to do today so low energy usage
    10) Checking rewards on reward card as OH had to buy more paint today. Will pay off as soon as he gives me reciepts.

    Have a good day all.

  • Good Morning!

    Thanks for the start, Bobarella

    I've been absent the last few days as I've been battling round 2 of the lurgy. OH passed the D&V baton to me, so I've pretty much spent 3 days sleeping, working and then sleeping again. Finally back on my feet, and now rushing round to catch up as I have to go into Hospital on Sunday.

    I honestly haven't checked to see what day it is today, but I believe it's Thursday... so my Thrifty Thursday looks like this...
    • Pack my stuff for Hospital. Make sure I have admissions letter, etc
    • Finish off the washing and get it on the airer (will finish in the drier)
    • No heat
    • Lights off!
    • Clean Dining Room and Bathroom
    • Sort out the clutter in the bedroom
    • Update Snowball and schedule CC payments
    • Pay Very (penultimate payment!)
    • Use Tuesday's leftovers for dinner

    Thinks that's about it.

    Have a wonderful day, everyone :D

    Today I used quidco to make a purchase - from the cheapest online supplier. The cashback will be a bonus in a couple of months time and if it doesn't come through, I know I've bought from the cheapest supplier anyway :)

    We're in the process of moving house - one wardrobe at a time in a DIY house moving way. I know that I'll save £800 at the end of it, but I am so tempted to get a man with a van for a day and hang the expense. But I don't have £800 (or £500) to spare!

    Lunch is courtesy of my boss. husband took his sandwich to work. tonight, my girls (3 and 5) are planning what biscuits to make at the weekend - very domesticated.

    This morning, before setting off for work I've also bagged up 10 bin-bags of clothes to take to the shop. Hopefully this will make about £20.

    once we are moved I'll be back to my routine...

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning all - thanks to Bob for starting us off.

    I've barely had time to lurk over the past few weeks - have had a bit of a run of bad luck with people going to hospital and various other things, and I've took my eye off the ball a little bit. But I have some time today to get organised.

    All meals are from stores, went to Lidl yesterday to top up.

    Update my YNAB tonight

    Take some surveys

    Tidy my house - am considering getting rid of a lot of books to condense space seeing as I have a kindle, and don't read many of them. Any good DFW ways of doing this?

    Update my signature too - my BC is definitely lower than what it says.

    Have a look at challenges for next month, as I seem to do better when I'm accountable for my NSDs!

    Morning all

    I'm one very very poor lady at the moment :-(

    - off for a walk in the Forrest in a moment, friend driving so no costs and taking juice etc with me. Not a very nice day here but tree cover should stop us getting wet

    - children going dads tonight. So night in bf, dvd and beers in stock.

    - all meals from stock

    - spend last £10 on gas :-( it's so cold here at the moment and can barley afford gas costs. Trying hardest not to put it on but need to keep it comfortable as children are so young

    - get milk using vouchers

    - signed up for free trail of netflixs, nice to have a bit of TV :-D

    Hate being so poor, once this debts are gone life will be easier. Need to keep eye on bigger picture and not 'depress buy'
    Have a good day all xx

  • (((JoJo))) Try and stay positive ( and I know that can be really really hard sometimes) You are doing really well.

    Today's list:

    Walk back and forth to work
    Check one poll, etc
    B/L/D from stores
    Hoover through
    Continue decluttering.

    Had a brainstorming session about the shop yesterday, so have been busy planning. Need to get some leaflets printed off ( hoping DS1 can design and print something) and have spruced up the shop magazine rack so it is now standing outside looking all smart. ( free mags)

    Hope everyone has a nice day.

    Good Afternoon All

    Bob - Thanks for starting us off today, son has gone swimming with friends so I went back to bed with my book - it's so cold here today (and very wet)

    Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.

    Yesterday was ok, son had 4 friends round and boy was it enlightening - not sure he wants to do it again - he said how rude and noisy they were, the bedroom was a complete mess with popcorn thrown all over, if he asked them not to bang about he was accused of being mardy. Not one of them spoke to me at all, no thanks from them or any of the parents - was a bit shocked to be honest, I would have rung or texted and said thanks for having my child all day and providing him with food and drinks - perhaps that's just me being a bit old-fashioned but manners cost nothing. Today's little list:

    Pack-up for DH - Done
    Dentist @4.30 -
    Re-list few bits on facebook -
    List couple of bits on Eb*y -
    Continue purge on Emails -
    Surveys -
    Check Banks -
    Check swapits -
    Enter a few comps -
    All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer -
    Check https://www.freepostcodelottery.com - Remember there are now 4 chances to win -
    Read - need to pick a book off the shelf (determined not to buy any books this year, have a bookcase full and a fantastic library close by, plus seem to be quite lucky at winning books)
    Knit -

    Have a great day, love to you all

    Afternoon all!

    Still at my boss' and I'm staying here tonight as we're painting at home and don't want her two dogs getting in the way!

    So today I have/will:-
    * Check banks
    * Withdraw funds from TCB (40p) and ClickSnap (£1.70)
    * Check FPL
    * Take lunch to work
    * Fill water bottle up at work
    * Two loads of washing done and dried at boss'
    * Charge phone at work
    * Dinner from stores
    * Nip home this evening and help OH with painting for a few hours
    * Have shower at boss'

    Think that's everything for today!

    Ratison - I've seen people mention Amazon trade in for books and possibly Ziffit(?)/Music Magpie (although the clue may be in the name that you cant trade them in there!) but not used them myself so cant help any more than that I'm afraid.

    I must go to my parents and have a look through my old CDs to see if I can get anything for them. Probably not a lot but you never know!
