O/S Daily Thursday 19th February 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Still dark, air feels a bit chilly, but sky looks clear. Load in WM.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting up and getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, I’ll be waking him up early though as he’s going out with my dad, sister and her family.
Dinner last night was a bit of a mixture, I made the roasted mediterean ?sp veg tart which was absolutely delicious, served with side salad, and half a jacket potato each, the menfolk also had a few chicken dippers each with theirs as they want meat of some description with every meal! Tonight may be spag bol or I may try to do a pasta bake – will see how I get on – I’m going into work this morning as there’s a short training session on Dementia Awareness – I’ll only get the time for this but as mum seems to be going downhill in this way I thought it would be useful for me personally as well as in my work life. I will need to get cracking with the washing, drying and ironing once I get home, housework needs to be done too. The time spent making the veg tart yesterday I really enjoyed – so now starting to feel like I’m getting my cooking mo-jo back, also starting to feel like I want to cook as opposed to the having to do it for everyone. Hoping I can get time to do some baking/cooking over the next couple of days.
Had a bit of a result yesterday, the renewal for the house and contents insurance policy came in, and I did a price comparison and there were a lot of companies cheaper but in fairness most I’d never heard of, the price has gone up from last year even though we’ve never claimed, so rang and asked for a better price and got nearly £40 reduction – so a much better price which I accepted. Both cars are due for renewal in the next few months so will have to see how they come in, but will do the same with them if they’re too expensive. Loyalty to insurance companies you’ve been with for years doesn’t exist anymore!
Also yesterday was such a lovely day here got a line full of towels line dried - hopefully spring is on it's way.
Have great Thursdays’ everyone, nearly the weekend!
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Not much happening here, same old stuff to do! Had a good day out with pupils yesterday, had lo spag bol for tea and spoke to DS2 on skype.
Weather a bit wet and windy but was largely dry yesterday. Work and hospice tonight, fajitas for tea.
LW - Glad you can hear us now!
meanmarie, sorry to hear the sad news of your friend.
Enjoy your days. Take care. XX0 -
Morning :hello:
I've planted my tomato seeds, they're happily sat in propagators in the kitchen, along with pepper and chilli seedlings. The larger seedlings don't need a propagator now but I haven't really got room for them so I've put them on the windowsill in the lounge. They're still in trays, which are wider than the windowsill so hopefully they won't get knocked offI forgot to buy cucumber seeds so will pick some up in the next couple of days.
It was dry and windy yesterday so I did most of the pot-filling outside and got three loads of washing dry, just had to hang one load in the house. Also picked the first cabbage from the veg patch, which I'm thrilled about
Morrisons are delivering later this morning so I'll give the cupboards a quick tidy up in a mo, makes the horrible job of putting the shopping away so much easier. The fridge is quite empty so I'll give that a clean too.
I want to get the nice ceramic plant pots out onto the patio but the slabs need a good scrub first. I was still awake at 1am (not sure what time I fell asleep) then woke up at 5am, I'm aiming to clean the patio after lunch but it depends on whether or not I fall asleep

Good Morning Everyone,
Hope everyones well.
Deep clean of the bathroom planned for today, tidy in freezers and freezer inventory, as well as the usual daily chores. It's quite a warmish morning so far.
Have a great day everyone

Morning all,
Meant to get heavy rain today but ok so far, off to work for me its been great fun this week so busy with customers and apart from the odd rude one or two they've been great. Most of the clients love the busy atmosphere but we have a few who don't like it, so we have quiet areas where they can be relatively quiet and calm.
Something with chips for dinner either scampi or chicken kiev, dd gone back to her place but I think will be back over the weekend, she is having trouble with a neighbour who seems to be obsessed with her, long story but she ended up calling the police last night as she caught him climbing over the back wall, I am worried sick tbh and just wish she would come home, he seems like a complete loser, hopefully the police having a word will have calmed him down.
Shopping being delivered tonight and I must do a wash, did not get round to it last night.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning one and all. Another miserable one here and heavy rain forecast. What a delight!
How I agree with you nmic about loyalty from companies you've been with years. Having a chunter last night about gas/electric. With E-on, originally for the Staywarm tariff but when that closed we were getting moved to the most expensive tariffs every renewal. We'd have been paying way over the odds if I hadn't checked up each time. Grrr!
Mr TA was happy with his meat-free meals for Ash Wednesday but, honestly, if I didn't remind him he'd totally forget and happily sit down with a steak!! Anyway he enjoyed his large plaice with baby new potatoes and mushy peas for tea just as much he said!
We have the 3 DGDs for tea and sleepover and every time I have to take my pick out of their 4 favourite meals! I have the mince defrosting and think I shall plump for lasagne today. So the Bolognese sauce will be going on soon.
Then we are off to Aldi, just for veg, fruit and dairy and other odd bits. I think next Thursday will be £5 voucher day so storing a bigger shop up for then!
I think this cold is finally on the mend. It's been a nasty one with flu symptoms thrown in randomly. Intermittent shivering, sweating, aching, sneezing and non stop nose running too. Today is the best I've been so hopefully shaken it off at last.
Have a good day all and hope you are getting better weather than us. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone.
What wild night! Winds and heavy rain most of the time though it's died down now. This place is on a very exposed part of the coast, my living room windows get layers of salt off the sea. Still, it's better than facing onto a motorway flyover.
Going to have a very quiet day. I plan to look through papers, scan what is important and then burn them. I did that before we moved in late 2013 but more have accumulated again so need culled.
Changed the bedding last night so that will be stuck in the washing machine.
Hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Good Morning chums WM chuntering away with a wash at the moment I'm hoping to get it on the line as its bright and sunny here in north Kent Later on today I am going with DD and three dgs to see the Ramsgate tunnels which should be interesting.
DD has today and tomorrow off, and on Saturday we are off up to Norwich to see DGS Ben at Uni.
Eldest DGS Danny is off to New York for his firm on Saturday, he will be fine as he know NYC quite well
DGD Holly has secured a teaching job starting in Sepember as she's almost finished her PGTC and has been given her teacher number .She is over the moon at the moment, so they are both happy bunnies
I have a rotten cold which I am dosing myself up withI only get about one a year and I thought I had escaped it this winter:( but its on its third day so fingers crossed it will be gone by the weekend
I'm pleased that I have cut right back on my shopping this month and my food budget purse is fairly full.I will have to go shopping on Friday but its mainly for fruit and veg so I'll have some cash left over to go into the holiday fund at the end of the month Only 10 more days and we will be in March :j
I have had a trawl through the cupboards and sorted out some stuff to take up to Ben's cupboard in Norwich, just odds and ends of tins etc,but every little helps when your on a tiny grant
Right off for a cuppa but NO ginger nut biscuitsas I have sworn off biscuits for Lent
Roll on easter
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0 -
Morning all
Fish have been fed, hubby's been dropped at work, car topped up with fuel & run through the car wash, shopping done, mainly fruit & veg. I need to get my hair cut later, it's getting really out of hand.
Yesterday I bought some coconut oil for hubby's sore hands, I hope it helps.
It's raining here today now so I'm glad I did the washing yesterday, it had a good blow on the line & was finished of over the maiden.
Fish pie for tea tonight, I'll make it in a sec so it's ready for later.
I'm hoping to get some time on my sewing machine this afternoon once I've got all my jobs done, I've been asked to make some items for a handicraft stall, I'm making catnip mice & hop pillows as I have catnip & hops that need using up.
Have a good day everyone.

Kung Hey Fat Choy everyone and welcome to the year of the wood sheep.
Raining here, I am so glad I got the bedding done yesterday.
I was going to town to get a Birthday card for DH but it is too yucky to go on the scooter. He is taking me shopping when he gets in from work, so I am going to leave him with the list and sneak off to card factory.
I have absolutely no idea of what to get him so I am going to be sneaky and ask him to take me over to Hemel on Saturday, so that I can have a look around for something.
I finished another baby cardi last night, so I am going to do some mitts to match today.
(((Hugs))) to all who need one
