    Errrrr.... no

First. Assuming it is a gas central heating system (is it?), then "Hi Mr GasSafe engineer, I'm about to buy a house would you......"

Second. You could do basic checks yourself. Make appointment, go round, and turn on the hot taps. Does hot water come out?

Is the heating on or off? If off, turn it on. Do the radiators get hot? All of them? At the top, the bottom, or both?

You could even take a CO alarm with you and leave it by the boiler for 15 minutes (while boiler is on).

Of course, you need permission from home-owner for this, but then you need permission for the [STRIKE]plumber[/STRIKE] GasSafe engineer too.

If there are any questions on the heating system yes, definitely get it done. If the house is occupied it should be easy. The seller should allow a properly registered engineer to do an inspection.
If the house is vacant it might be troublesome, the system may be drained, the meters may be disconnected. However I would still want to get it done so hassle the Estate Agents.
