Does PPI bank admission improve Credit score

Hiya i have been paying off debt through DMP for over 5 years. I have however just had a bank admit to PPI and a 9k refund . With this admission and the amount playing a large chunk of the debt can i have my credit score improved ?

    Would you still be in default without the PPI part of the debt? If so it won't make any difference really.
