Help with faulty item returned - seller cant find it!

Hi all,
hopefully I am in the right forum.......Purchased an 'e' collar back in the summer. Stopped working last month, still under guarantee, contacted the company and after a few e-mails (going nowhere), returned the item recorded delivery with a covering letter asking them to check it and repair/replace it.
The first e-mail was sent 8/1/15. I was advised to check the batteries. (I had already done so, but duly did it again). Sent another e-mail the following day, heard nothing.
21/1/15, returned item.
Again, a few e-mails down the line (mostly from me chasing them!) heard from them 9/2 stating the item was damaged beyond repair due to poor packaging....was advised to claim from royal mail.
I asked for a photo of the damaged item for proof to go with my claim. A picture duly arrived.....not the item I sent!!
I have phoned and e-mailed and they now say they cant find anything!
HHHEEEELLLPPPP!!!!!
