Broken car drinks petrol - should I keep driving?

A £200 car that is generally in good condition is worth spending a little on for what is probably a fairly simple fix. What else could you get for £200? There really isn't anything complicated or expensive to go wrong on a Fiesta that age (Ok - engine seizure - before Conor points it out:D ).0

i had a car years ago with a similar problem - 1983 Opel Ascona SR or Vauxhall Cavalier to give it the UK name!
Fast idle, sppluttering below around 1500rpm but i sold the car just after the diagnosed the fault but never fixed it.
We found it was the gasket (seal) between the carburettor and the manifold. We figured it out by spraying WD40 in the area and when the spray was applied the car idle really slowed down but after a few secs it would pick up again.
We discvoered that approx 1-2 weeks prior to selling it and the new owner knew of the problem before anyone thinks i pulled a fast one!!

Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!0 -

if it's anything like the old fiesta i had, there's a solenoid valve on the side of the carb for cutting the fuel supply to the engine when you turn the ignition off. On my car the hole in the brass jet on the end of it had worn and the engine was flooding at tick over and dying. IIRC it cost about £4 to fix it, It looks like a grey tube with a single wire going to it under the air filter, it just screws out and the brass jet screws off the end of it.0
