Self employed, how to ensure HB continue?

Joanna is on benefits, jsa, hb etc. She is starting a small business and has no idea if she will get rich. She still needs her Housing Benefits etc until she make enough income. What does she need to do, any advice most appreciated.

    1) If claiming JSA or qualifying benefit for 26 weeks or more with no break should get 4 week run on of Housing Benefit.

    2) Projection of assumed profit - this will be used for 13 weeks to calculates HB entitlement.

    3) Provide 13 weeks accounts showing income and expenditure - these figures will be used for a further 13 weeks.

    4) Provide 26 weeks self employed figures - these will be used for a further 13 weeks.

    5) Provide 39 weeks self employed figures - these will be used to pay a further 13 weeks Housing Benefit.

    6) After 1 years trading provide 52 weeks self employed figures - these will be used to calculate the coming years HB entitlement.

    7) Once a year provide self employed accounts - hopefully business does so well no need to claim benefits.
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

Thank you very much Housing Benefit Officer, she had no idea of all this. I told her that she may need to earn the minimum wage for 16-20 Hrs a week to qualify for any financial support but I know rules keep changing and told her to confirm this with CAB as I am not sure about any thing. Let us see how she gets on tomorrow.
