I don't think it's ott in the least.
I don't, and have never smoked but if I've been in a room with people who are smoking, I can smell the smoke on my clothing for the rest of the day.
One of my favourite bars is one of the few that still allows smokers (it's not in the UK) and after an evening in there, everything I was wearing has to go into the washer and I have a shower to get rid of the smell from my hair.
I don't mind the smoke whilst I'm there but I wouldn't want to live with it afterwards.0 -

Not OTT in the least. I've done the same after visiting a friend who smoked. I had a young child at the time, both her and her husband stood at the back door to smoke yet afterless than an hour I made my excuses and left.
Got home, washed everything, bathed the toddler, put all appropriate items through the dishwasher and tried to clean the pram. When my OH got in a few hours later the first thing he said was 'phew, what is that smell' the next was to suggest that I didn't take any of the children there again- and I never did.
Smokers are completely oblivious to it. I even sat next to one on a 4 hour plane journey- obviously they were not smoking, but their clothes and hair reeked of it. I've never been so pleased to get off a plane in my life.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Did anyone mention the smell of dogs?0

Totally agree. My OH smokes, then had to quit for an operation. Unfortunately re-started and is now banned from smoking in the house, has to do so outside. Not quite as bad as only smokes cigars, but the house is so much fresher!
If I get anything off Ebay from a smoker I am extremely sensitive to the smell, actually makes me feel sick these days, has to be returned. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Not over the top at all.
Some 30 years ago I used to work in London where 1 person chain smoked. When I went home I would be stinking as well and washing my hair was a nuisance as I had long hair - well below the waistline.
Got the boss to have a word with him and he smoked less on the days I was there (I was doing 2 days a week there) but I still came home stinking.
During the winter months my overcoat (which was hanging in the corridor outside the room) would stink for days. I started carrying the dry cleaners bag with me and cover my coat every time I was there.
In the end I got so fed up that I left that job - luckily it was only 2 day job and I had another one for the rest of the week. Not sure what I would have done if that was my main job!0 -
Well I think its over the top, and I'm entitled to my opinion.
