If they had a cat, it would eventually eat its way through the contents of the pouches (cats are terribly greedy whereas we dogs are models of self-restraint).

They would then have to go out and spend yet more money on yet more cat food.

Not owning a cat eliminates this additional expenditure.

    They could be onto something...

i should be able to expect that £15000 saved tax free could earn more than enough to buy a bar of choccy and a large bottle of pop each week.

I'm sure that the BoE (and the world economy, at large) has as much concern for your expectations as it has for mine. Which is zero.
So your expectations are incorrect, and in reality you are tilting at windmills. Everyone knows that cash ISAs are pretty much a waste of time if you are looking for growth. Treat them for what they are...a good way to shield money from the taxman for ever. if you want growth then you have to get into investing.

I know very well the point of cash isas, what I dont understand is, IF there was a difference in all the interest rates that ranged from say 1.2% at the bottom end of the scale up to say 6.78% at the top end of the scale
Which ISA pays 6.78% at the moment?

We don't have any cash ISAs. Our cash is mainly held in NS&I linkers where its buying power is at least preserved. We then hold most of what's left in a Santander 123 account at 3% interest.

We use our ISAs for long-term savings, so therefore mostly equities.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.
