Morning all,
The BBC in their wisdom have decimated support for WMA format internet radio, which for me means that my internet radio in the kitchen cannot use the new formats their using in some cases.
I want to replace the radio with one that can handle the MP3 format BBC stations reliably and also play my music collection via UPnP like my current one does. Budget is around £100.
I've been tempted in the past by the Pure Sensia 200D. Is this any good?
Thanks all

If you have a smartphone, consider a cheap pair of powered PC speakers that you can plug into instead.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -

Thanks for the suggestion. I have considered this for the radio by using my Android tab and a speaker dock but I also need to stream my music wirelessly from the PC in another room. I believe the current one uses UPnP to do this. Do you know of any apps that could connect to my Windows 7 PC and stream via an Android tablet? Never heard of any myself. ThanksIn deep...0 -
I have a Pure Sensia and it's great, BUT 2 weeks ago radio 2 stopped working with a recorded message from the BBC. Something about not supporting windows media. Its fine on DAB though and all the other BBC stations seem OK still. Works well with my network and twonky server too. Very good sound for the size.0

There are a ton of easy solutions that are able to do this.
Here is an example of one way of doing it:

Has your radio maker not released an update to cope with the new streams?
I know Roberts have some already sorted with more in the works.
The MP3 streams are getting hammered at the moment and are far from reliable, last night for instance they didn't air the Chelsea match over the MP3 stream but did using the new Audiofactory ones, I'm getting loads of buffering and disconnects too.0 -
Just tried my Roberts Stream 93i and it can pick up the Internet BBC stations just fine. I haven't tried my Pure Evoke Flow yet, I will next time I go into the kitchen though. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0

I'd not rush to buy anything until the BBC shambles has been resolved and they've told the suppliers what is going to happen to live streams and Listen Again.0

Isn't there a VLC app for smartphones (I know it's just reappeared on iOS), that should connect to a DNLA device (such as your Windows 7) PC when you've got a Media Player up and running.
You should then be able to stream audio to a Bluetooth speaker.4kWp system (Feb 2014) : 1.5 SW, 2.5 NE (16x Bisol BMO/250, Aurora Power-One UNO PVI-3.6 Inverter : pvoutput.org/list.jsp?id=299350 -
Just tried my Pure Evoke Flow and it's currently installing an update, could be a coincidence but it might be a fix for the problem you mention.
Upgrade finished while I was typing. I've just tried several BBC Internet stations and all are working perfectly.
Does anyone know which stations in particular are effected so I can try them?
Have to say that both the Roberts and the Pure still impress me. Good sound and access to more stations than you could listen to in several lifetimes plus FM, DAB and all my music on the computer.
Currently listening to Bay Smooth Jazz..............nice.One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
The main issues were with BBC national stations.0
