Dipping headlights on very open roads
Comments

On a long stretch of road I'm inclined not to dip until the 'usual' time, unless the other car has dipped and flashes, then I'll dip straightaway.
I find it's only the very odd person who dips 'early', most wait until they're a 'normal' distance away, and most of the time it's pretty synced between me and the other driver.
You just met a plonker, OP. It's more dangerous to flash and blast full lights at someone in a fit of temper than to be a bit late dipping.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

This pretty much sums it up. You came across some motoring moron. But, I would have dipped them sooner in light of his actions (pun intended), simply because you now also have his light to guide you.0
