Car Repairs - Excessive problems

Tyres and the brakes visible through the wheels are the loudest car alarm bells known.
Manky tyres means that the previous owner couldn't care a damn about the most important part of the car, a fair assumption would be that the parts you can't see will be far worse.
Put this one down to experience.0 -

But buying it from a main dealer I personally would expect it to be checked and advertised accordingly0 -

You'd think so wouldn't you but it appears not to be, i've heard of upmarket make main dealers fit cheap chinese ditchfinders to forecourt cars priced at top book, you really couldn't make it up.
Honestly i wasn't being funny or patronising in any way, tyres (preferably 4 matching of known decent makes or two pairs at the very least of same specification), wheels and visible brakes, if they pass inspection by all means carry on using normal care, if they don't simply walk away unless its so cheap as to be unmissable, and that applies to whoever you're buying from...it's not infallible but a fair initial guide to be going on with.0 -

I think we are going off topic, my issue isn't with the tyres it is with the situation a a whole.
Thanks
Duff tyres aren't cosmetic or minor.0 -

I agree with you there, will definitely do better checks in future, a lesson learnt.
To spicy haggis guy, main dealers In my opinion shouldn't sell cars with tyres that just scrape through an MOT so assuming they would be satisfactory is not unreasonable to expect0 -

I may be wrong, ofc.
HBS x
That would make very used vehicle uninsurable unless you fit new tyres.
Would a new car with a delivery mileage be classed as having part worn tyres?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

They are perfectly entitled to do so, if they pass mot standards they are legal.
You should have seen they needed replacing and made it a condition of the sale.0 -
I'm just glad I buy high mileage cars. Sounds like low mileage ones are a whole heap of trouble.
Driving a 240,000 mile car for the same period of time the only fault I had was a leak on a coolant hose, £20 to replace from main dealer.
I really does sound like you've had a lemon.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

A lemon is an understatement haha. All my previous cars have been amazing, my last one I had for 4 years and the only fault was one coil needed changing and was about £25.
One upside I suppose is that I'm learning how to fix cars pretty good0
