Faulty Watch- Only bought in December

Can anybody tell me my rights regarding a £259 watch I bought in December and has stopped working now. I took it back to the shop and they said they need to send it back to the manufacturers to have a look at it. I don't really want it back after less than 2 months bought in case it happens again.

Check the warranty regulations of the shop that sold you the item -
Most are numbered and *most* will be in the following order:
A) Thorough repair of item at no customer costReplacement of item (or one at similar/equal value)
C) Refund in store credit
D) Refund in cash
Most will push you to take the store credit but I believe if it's within a certain time period (unsure on that period), you can demand cash.0 -
After a month it would be expected that you have accepted the goods so the rights to an immediate refund have passed. (not a hard fact but based on what could be considered "reasonable")
The retailer has the right to inspect the goods and if found faulty through no fault of yours offer a repair, replacement or refund whichever is less costly to them. You can request a solution which is more preferable to you but they do not have to agree. This must be done without causing significant inconvenience to you ....... but not having a watch is not a life or death situation0 -

What make / model is it ? If a quartz, then it's entirely possible the only thing 'wrong' with it is the battery is dead as it's been sitting unsold in a warehouse for the last 2/3 years.0 -
I think it's reasonable to send it to get it looked at, I did that and the watch in question was fixed.0

Are we talking a decent watch or a fashion accessory?
(Although neither should be faulty after two months)0 -
Agree with the above poster re quartz. And if it's a movement issue, they'll just bin the current movement and replace the movement with a brand new working movement.
If it's an automatic (at this price point, it's possible), they'll service the movement.0 -
It is Michael Kors watch cost £259. I received a call today saying the watch has been fixed and it was the battery.0

That happens all the time with my watch, next time I'm going for a hatchback, not a saloon :-)0
