T-Mobile Default Payment

Help needed!
I took a T-Mobile Contract out via Carphone Warehouse in May 2013. I returned the phone within cooling off period (never even opened box) and expected Carphone Warehouse to cancel contract. They failed to cancel contract and notify T-Mobile of this.
To cut long story short, T-Mobile have now placed Default Payment on my Credit Rating. I only found this out recently as I was refused loan recently.
T-Mobile only wrote to me once in September 2013 to chase alleged debt, which I replied to. I received no response back.
I have got Carphone Warehouse to admit liability recently, namely that they failed to cancel Contract, but I am left trying to rectify my Credit Rating.
How do I get the Defaults removed from my Credit Score?
I do not want to pay the debt, as I do not wish to have a "settled" default payment on my account. I have also contacted the Credit Rating Company's to Notify them of dispute, but do not appear to be getting anywhere fast.
