Cancer and PIP

Hi

My partner, aged 40, with whom I live has been diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. She will be having a big op in 2 weeks time and Drs say she will be convalescing for around 3 months.

Can she claim PIP for at least the 3 months that she will not be mobile and will require help at home? If so, when should she put a claim in?

Also, she is our young son's carer and gets Carers Allowance of £61 per week. Can she still be his carer when she is ill herself?

Lastly, can someone be my partner's carer? what is required to be entitled to Carers? do you have to be getting DLA/PIP?

Thanks,

RD
