first of all my volume icon and electric icon has gone from my toolbar then when i try to empty my recycle bin it wont empty then i cant get rid of it i have press ctrl alt and del then it goes but when it does my volume and electric icon comes back but when i turn the computer off and put it on again they have gone again any ideas it is driving me crazy cheers

have you tried right clicking, theres an option in there somewhere where you can tick boxes to show various things on the taskbar, not sure why your recycle bin isnt emptying, sounds like a setting has been changed but as i am running vista the process is slightly different. I had a similar problem where my recycle bin didnt empty and when it did empty it disappeared, try this:http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1104255327Fr.
