Hello
Last year, in February 2014, I rang Which? and signed up for legal advice, which at the end of the day was disappointingly poor. I signed up over the phone, used the service twice and have not used it since early 2014. Tonight, when checking my bank account, Which? have taken £43 from my bank account, with my bank checking and telling me I have a subscription with Which? despite it not showing on my direct debits of standing orders lists. Can they do this? No reminder or request? For a consumer protection company, its laughable! Can anyone offer any advice and please bear in mind I joined over the phone and have no knowledge of any ongoing subscription.
Thankyou for any advice

It sounds like a continuing payment from a debit card. What do Which say?0

Hello
I only saw it at 19.05 when I got in from work. I assiduously check my account for DDs and SOs so I can keep on top of my finances. Was wholly unaware of this so have been unable to speak to Which? as their lines are only open until 6 pm. I have sent an email. I was totally unaware the young person who signed me up had enrolled me into a continuous payment.

From their T&Cs:YOUR SUBSCRIPTION
1. How long will my subscription last?
Your subscription will be an annual subscription unless it is for a trial subscription (see section 2 below) or unless a different period is stated in your membership letter.
Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each subscription year (or other subscription period) unless you cancel your subscription in accordance with section 7 (Cancellation and Refunds) below. We will write to you in advance of the renewal date to remind you that your subscription is due to renew. If you would like to cancel your subscription, please contact us. The quickest way to do this is to call us on 01992 822 828.
I think I already know your answer, but the question is: did they write to you in advance of the renewal date to remind you that your subscription is due to renew?
Of course, if you have never seen these T&Cs, then you probably cannot be bound by them.0 -
Call them and they will cancel and refund.0

Hello and thank you to both...I looked for the terms and conditions but could not find them.I have not had any correspondence 're renewal, or I would have been expecting the debit and would have rung to cancel. I will ring them tomorrow. Many thanks again.0

It does seem rather ironic that the Consumers Association (Which?) seem to be playing a touch fast and loose with consumer rights.0

One click from the home page, cunningly disguised as "Terms and Conditions"

Thank you for pointing that out. My ignorance I expect.0
