                    Hi
Just feeling a bit down today as finally after 5 months of waiting for an answer husband has had DLA decision back only to be declined.
I know that we can ask for it to be looked at again and can then appeal, but does anyone have any sound advice as feeling very dejected.
Any advice would be very welcome.

Don't bother asking them to look at it again - if you want to appeal, then ask for a GL24 and appeal.
Before they go any further, they will look at it again anyway, with another Decision maker - this just cuts the delay in doing both.
 This may help you:

But, if you are going to appeal, I would advise going to the CAB and asking them to refer you to a welafre rights worker, who will help you through the entire process.
Lin You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. 0 0

Thank you very much, I will phone CAB tomorrow as they are only open here in the mornings.
I will also look at the link you have provided.
Thank you for telling me about the GL24, I didn't know that you could go straight to appeal.
It is so hard to stay strong when you have rejections like this particularly when you have to be strong for your other half at the same time. Here I stand, foot in hand

            Update - Can anyone advise?
We requested an appeal and filled out the form and returned it. We have had a couple of letters saying they would be in contact in due course and another one, normal sorry haven't been able to get back to you yet.
Now today, however we have had a letter saying that they now want my Husband to have a home visit/report by their Doctor. Can anyone advise if this is normal when you request an appeal hearing?
Is this not just another way of stalling? I thought that if you requested an appeal hearing that they had to get back to you within a certain amount of time with a hearing date? Here I stand, foot in hand

They are reviewing the claim and they are asking the Dr for his report. Make sure that when the Dr comes you stress how your Husband is on his "Worst" days and what he is unable to do. The Dr may ask him to walk to observe how his walk is affected. I dont know what illness your husband has if you would like to tell us we may collectivly be able to offer more advice.
