Cant get Refund on steam mop bought at Aldi

Options
I bought a mop at Aldi for £24.99 in march 2014 it stopped working properly in december .so I looked at Aldis website at the warranty info and found I needed to ring the number in the booklet that came with the mop. To cut a long story short I sent the original receipt in as they asked, they have told me 3 times they have sent me a cheque . Then I sent a scanned copy of the receipt to the company concerned Tempo international ( the supplier for Aldi) and did not hear anything so I rang again, then I rang Aldi customer service dept,to be told by the person I spoke to that this needed sorting out. He contacted them and they rang me again and told my husband that if I could send the scan to them again that would be good ,but I was getting my refund sent out anyway . I asked for acknowledgment of the scan just to be safe but nothing. I have just rung Aldi again only to be told that it is up to me to keep chasing it up,as I have gone down the warranty route ( which is on the website to do given the time when I bought it) even though they are now saying that if I had taken it in to store I could have got my money back. Has anyone got any ideas?,by the way Tempo International rarely answer the phone.

  • Just got off the phone from Tempo after trying for a while, have just sent another scanned copy of the receipt to them ,as they don't have my address in their system. So will see what happens next!

I thought if you bought the goods from Aldi (in this case) your contract of sale is with them. Is it not Aldi that should be dealing with their customer and not you?

Look up the Sale of Goods Act 1979 to be sure of your position.
  • You would think so wouldn't you. I did say that surely they should sort this out ,as I bought it in good faith from them after all. It really does put me off buying anything electrical from them in future.

do you still have the mop and the receipt( or proof of purchase)?

If so, tke them into Aldi for a refund.

Your contract is with Aldi, but sometimes it is far quicker to go to manufacturer under the manufacturers warranty

I only have a scanned copy of the receipt ,as the supplier wanted the original and seem to have lost it along with my emails and email address, but they did say that I could probably take it back to Aldi if I still have the mop, which is at my daughters house in her cellar. But I will then be faced with aldi having to accept a photocopy of my receipt. Oh joy. Just keeping my fingers crossed I get my money by the end of the week,or it will be a trip down to my local Aldi.

Soga with Aldi may not get you a refund .
Item over six months old so its up to you to prove item is faulty / manufacturing defect etc not Aldi .

I contacted the supplier of the mop and they agreed to send me a refund when I sent them the receipt for the item, they just did not do it.
