Using a credit card online whilst abroad?

Hi there,
I wanted to know about using a credit card online whilst abroad. I am going to be living abroad for awhile and will set up my own bank there but I would like to keep using my credit card for big purchases e.g. flights.
For example, if I were to use it on skyscanner here in the UK I presume I would get no charges. However, would I be charged as if t were a foreign transaction if using skyscanner abroad?

What matters is what currency it gets charged in.0
