Tax credits and Overtime
Confusedabout
Hi I'm new to this site and confused about this.
We are claiming working and child tax credits. When are you meant to inform them about overtime?
My husband has been doing different amounts of overtime on and off since September, its not guaranteed and has varied each week/month. So obviously we aren't going to call them each week about it.
We thought our claim went on the last years income anyway(2013/2014) so do we wait until april to tell them (so there's no overpayment for this coming year (2014/2015) or do we to tell them now?

If your total income including overtime is going to be less than £5k more than the amount your award was based on then there will be no overpayment
If it is likely that your income will be more than £5k more then you should contact them and give a revised estimate so they can adjust the payments and avoid overpayment0 -
On your 2014/15 award notice it will have the income on which they are estimating for the current year on which payments from 6 April 2015 will be based. If your total combined income year to date is vastly different I would call them and update your current year estimate.0
