Club class flights to the Canaries

Other than BA, does anybody know of airlines flying to the Canaries that offer club/business class seats? I'm looking to spend a little more to avoid having my knees around my neck that's offered by the 'cram-em-in' airlines.

I know you may get emergency exit seats for a premium, but this will be a special holiday and I want to have a bit of luxury instead of scrimping for a change.

In respect of BA - save your money - their enhanced Club Europe offering is rubbish. Seat pitch is the same as economy, so if comfort is your priority, look elsewhere.

I don't think you are going to get 'a bit of luxury' on a relatively short haul flight within Europe. Maybe consider paying for a lounge before your flight rather than pay out for something you will be disappointed with.
  • As above.

"Business class" on European routes tends to be standard seating with the middle seat of three blocked off with a table. It's certainly not "luxury" by any stretch.

This is the typical BA Airbus running the Gatwick - Tenerife route: http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/British_Airways/British_Airways_Airbus_A320-200_B.php

But the description 'here' says legroom of 30" - not seat pitch. Is that a lie?

Had a look a the traveller's pictures from the link above, and they look dreadful. BA have reduced pitch from 34" to 30". The price difference for a Canaries return flight is about £500 a seat. Thank you - I'm not going to pay for a non-delivery. My search continues for a comfortable carrier. Thomson is 28" so it won't be on one of theirs either.

I would ignore Seatguru on BA's A320, it is not up to date since the new seats have been installed. As dickydonkin says, the seat pitch in Club is now the same as economy at 30", not the 34" still showing on Seatguru (except row 1, but these are usually taken by BA Gold card holders who can get them before anyone else). You are of course correct that the middle seat being blocked is the main seating benefit now that convertible seats have been replaced.

Same will go for the A319s, which are currently being "enhanced" with the new seats.

OP - There is no other airline offering full business class direct to TFS that I'm aware of. Some options for you (assuming London area departure):

    > Iberia business class via Madrid - their aircraft still have more legroom, though the MAD-TFS sector may be operated by Iberia Express, whose business class legroom not as good as Iberia mainline (but still better than new BA). Takes longer of course.

    > From end of March, Iberia Express are starting flights from London to Tenerife North airport. Will be a longer transfer at the other end if you are staying at the south end of the island, but slightly better legroom than BA (in business class, not economy).

    > Monarch usually have extra legroom seats up front, not just exit rows, worth consideration if the schedule works for you.

It does depend what part of the business class experience matters most to you. If it's the legroom, BA is no longer a great option short haul, but if you don't have airline status, you might still value the lounge access, extra baggage allowance, priority boarding etc that the BA Club Europe product offers. However, as pointed out above, you can pay for lounge access. Unless you get a very good price, I wouldn't pay for BA Club Europe product on A319/320 these days.

Very little demand on short haul leisure routes for a proper "Business class" so I doubt you'll find anyone offering it.

Your best bet (if its room you want) is booking one of the extra leg room seats on one of the run of the usual low cost or charter airlines. I'd agree book a lounge at the airport and save your money.
